Taxable Sandwiches is more of what you've come to expect from the fez: lo-fi ambient beats with improvised trombone. This entire release was recorded in a single sitting, in a single take, direct to tape!

Featuring a new patch for the Fez5000, the system here generates random lofi/ambient beats using a pool of 14 samples that it can chop and play in different combinations and sequences. At the beginning of each track I hit a "shuffle" button the Fez5000 and it picks a new sample set, a new key, a new random bass line, new random drums with a new drum sample set, and then I'll add improvised trombone in reaction to it. The samples and algorithms were picked and designed to invoke a feeling of calm and nostalgia.

My overall goal for this release was to be able to give listeners an idea of what a typical fez show is like, I hope you all enjoy it!
